Set up your games

Written for:League adminsCoaches and team managers

Call off a game

  1. Open Events in the sidebar. Tap the game.
  2. Tap Cancel or Reschedule.
  3. Type one line saying why.
  4. Tap Save.

Everyone on both teams is told straight away.

The cancel steps are first on this page on purpose. That is the one you need at 7am on a wet Saturday, standing in a car park. Everything below is for a quiet evening at a desk.

  1. Open Events in the sidebar, then New.
  2. Pick the season, the two teams, the date and time, and the field.
  3. Save.

TODO — product owner to confirm whether import is by file upload or by generating a round-robin, and what the file needs to contain.

  • Cancel when the game is not being played and no new date is set yet. Everyone is told. You can set a date later.
  • Reschedule when you already know the new date. Everyone is told once, with the new date in it.

Do not delete a game to call it off. Deleting removes it from everyone’s calendar with no message, so families turn up.

Both teams’ players, their parents, and the coaches. Referees assigned to the game are told too — see getting a referee to a game.

TODO — product owner to confirm whether this is email, text, or both, and whether it depends on the plan.

Games use the league’s own time zone, set in League settings. Get that right before you add a season’s worth of games — changing it afterwards does not move the games already entered.

Worked example. A league in Arizona sets its time zone to Mountain Time and enters an 8am Saturday game. Arizona does not use daylight saving. Once the rest of Mountain Time springs forward, that game shows as 7am to a parent whose phone is on Denver time. Set the time zone to Phoenix, not Mountain, and it stays 8am all year.

  • Two games on one field at one time. Kordnate will let you. Check the field before you save.
  • Deleting instead of cancelling. No message goes out.
  • Entering a whole season before checking the time zone.
